Hey if any of you are taking microbiology this semester this is what I used to memorize gram positive and gram negatives (towards different bacterium and agars etc).

For example:

If you inoculate a throat swab and gram stain it and also put it on a blood agar plate (sheep blood) and the next week the stain shows up negative (pink) you automatically know it is a gram negative stain (and therefore a STREP strain! If the blood agar comes back lysed all the way through— you’d figure out quickly it’s an alpha hemolytic Strep. pneumoniae strain!!!
